AUDIT

Mission/Workplan:

The Audit committee’s mission is to review the books and records of AMTA and check balances in the account with the statements of the Treasurer.

   

AWARDS

The Awards Committee develops and implements AMTA’s Awards Program, with a goal of ever-increasing the number and variety of AMTA Awards in consideration of associated budgetary implications.

The Bylaws Committee reviews the bylaws and makes recommendations for changes to the Board of Directors and Membership.

Mission/Workplan:

Between meetings of the Board, the Executive Committee conducts the day-to-day business of the corporation, with authority and responsibility empowered by the Board.

   

FINANCE

Steve Malloy, Committee Chair

Mission/Workplan:

The mission of the Finance Committee is to prepare and suggest for adoption by the Board plans for financing the activities of AMTA and an annual budget to govern the fiscal operations of the Association. The Finance Committee prepares plans for financing AMTA’s annual activities, including annual budgets.  It reviews any proposed modifications to membership dues rates and alterations to annual operating budgets (financing and expenditure plans) and recommends appropriate Board action when necessary.

Mission/Workplan:

The mission of the Industry Collaboration Committee is to seek out, explore and memorialize collaborative efforts with other industry associations to the benefit of AMTA ’s membership and the industry as a whole.

   

INTERNATIONAL LIAISON

Mission/Workplan:

The mission of the International Liaison committee is to ensure close cooperation between AMTA and IDA to accomplish the mutual purposes of both organizations.  The committee supervises operations of the two organizations within the terms of the affiliation agreement, and recommends to the Board any action needed to alter or improve the joint relations.  The Committee also recommends programs to be instituted by the Board to assess, evaluate, and advise AMTA concerning the state of the art and advances made in desalination and other water sciences being accomplished at the international level.

   

LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS & REGULATORY PROGRAMS

Mission/Workplan:

The mission of the Legislative Affairs & Regulatory Programs Committee is to institute programs which (a) disseminate information concerning legislation proposed of consideration in Congress, State Legislatures and other governments, affecting the interests of AMTA’s members; (b) prepare position papers on behalf of and for consideration by the Board and for presentation when appropriate to Legislative Committees on matters related to the interests and objectives of AMTA; and (c) present legislative summaries at the Biennial Conference.  The Committee: (a) develops a meaningful, annual program and Day in Washington, DC Conference; and (b) develops an action plan that will provide legislation or regulatory amendments so that brine discharges are possible.

In addition, Concentrate Disposal efforts are lead by this AMTA committee in initiating and supporting activities designed to help resolve current concentrate disposal permitting problems in the U.S.  The Concentrate Disposal Committee works with the Government Programs Committee in developing an action plan that will promote legislation or change regulations so that concentrate discharges are permissible.  The Committee also prepares white papers on concentrate disposal, and assists state and regional organizations in their efforts to change state and local regulations which make concentrate discharges unnecessarily difficult or costly

MEMBERSHIP

Mission/Workplan:

The mission of the Membership Committee is to seek and review applications for membership in the three classes of membership of AMTA, and make related recommendations to the Board.  The Committee seeks to obtain the widest possible participation in AMTA among qualified applicants.  The Committee continues to refine the AMTA’s membership rosters (i.e., honorary and complimentary); develop a roster of concrete AMTA membership benefits which can be used to promote AMTA to prospective members; and, reviews current membership recruitment materials to develop a new/updated packet with fact sheets.

The mission of the Nominating Committee is to propose a slate of directors for each two-year term to be considered by the Board and presented to the Voting Membership.

PUBLIC OUTREACH
COMMUNICATIONS

Mission/Workplan:

The mission of the Public Outreach Committee is to educate/inform the public, including the water treatment industry, of the health significance, economics, value, importance and methods of desalting water through advertising, announcements and editorials. This mission includes establishing a procedure for how best to announce -to the maximum number of interested individuals, at a minimum cost - the date, time and subject of AMTA's Conferences and Technical Workshops.  These notifications are to inform individuals and create interest in the desalting field plus attract new people to attend AMTA meetings to learn and understand our industry.  The Public Outreach Committee investigates publications in which AMTA can insert meeting announcements on a no-fee basis.

Mission/Workplan:

The Committee’s mission is to negotiate affiliation agreements with compatible corporations representing regions within the territorial limits of AMTA, and present them for formal approval by the AMTA Board.  It encourages the development of regional affiliates, and monitor and supervise AMTA’s participation in joint or collaborative activities that may be developed with affiliates.

TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER

Mission/Workplan:

The mission of the Technology Transfer Committee is to generate and conduct programs of technology transfer designed to increase the knowledge of and interest in membrane technology for desalination, water reclamation and other fields of interest to AMTA.  The Committee may cooperate and collaborate with other organizations in its programs, and will endeavor to gain broad participation of AMTA members and any affiliated corporations in its activities.
