Adoption of membrane bioreactor (MBR) systems continues to grow, even without space constraints or plans to further treat the wastewater for beneficial reuse. Municipal and industrial WWTPs are selecting the MBR process to achieve greater nutrient reduction and to have consistent effluent for surface discharge. These new drivers have also been coupled with process optimization and energy efficient operation leading to a reduction of the cost of ownership. This presentation will highlight 2 installations and will discuss the overall design, operation, and key performance metrics that led to the selection of MBR technology.
