Slant wells are a method to supply raw water for a seawater desalting plant. A slant well is a water supply well drilled on an angle instead of vertically and eliminates impacts to sea life, water quality upsets due to storm activity, and reduces pretreatment costs. Test pumping from the test wells at the Dana Point, California facility provides data to support the benefits of this seawater supply configuration.
