The Bay Area Regional Desalination Project, Comparing Membranes & Configurations for a Highly Brackish & Variable Source Water

A detailed pilot study has been conducted to evaluate the upper San Francisco Bay/lower Sacramento River Delta as a potential location for a new 71 mgd desalination treatment
facility. Various membrane elements and pilot configurations were tested during a six month study, through periods of highly varying salinity and water quality. Results of the
pilot and recommendations for the proposed full scale facility are presented.
