Polymeric microfiltration membranes used to treat wastewater are subject to file fouling due to the diversity of microorganisms present in wastewater. Surface modification of polymeric microfiltration membranes using polyeletrolyte multilayer (PEM) and silver nanoparticle (AgNP) assemblies is investigated as a method of decreasing the deposit of biofilm on the membrane surface and the ability to remove the biofouling from the surface of the membrane.
