Should PVDF be considered a forever chemical?
PFAS, PFOA and thousands of other compounds are collectively know as "forever chemicals". There are multiple definitions used to group these chemicals. A new, simple definition could include PVDF, a common polymer used everyday in medical, recreation and water treatment applications.
Removing PVDF from the materials available to membrane scientists will have impacts, particularly with municipal water and wastewater facilities which currently use PVDF membranes to meet stringent treatment goals.
