With aging of oil wells, the ratio of produced water volume to oil volume is keep increasing. Produced water becomes a natural choice of water supply for oil production process. Thus, more and more oil producers are looking into produced water reuse. This is especially important for the regions where fresh water supply is limited, such as those in California and Texas. We present several large-scale produced water treatment for enhanced oil recovery (EOR). Tubular polymeric membrane is used instead of conventional DGF/WSF to remove TSS and oil. The treated water has a superior water quality and is fed to RO for desalination. The final effluent is sent to generate steam for Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) for enhancing oil production. Economics analysis is also presented to demonstrate the feasibility of this technology.
