Approaching 40 years in service, this 300,000 gpd, aging water treatment plant needed major upgrades. The existing treatment process consisted of an up-flow lime softening system for hardness, dual media filtration, packed tower aeration, GAC absorption, and disinfection. Source water for the plant provided by three wells is classified as groundwater under the influence of surface water and included the presence of volatile organic compounds and radon contaminants. The treatment process was replaced by an integrated MF/NF system and the project included pilot testing of the integrated process. The system was commissioned in September 2021.
