There are many grades and types of stainless steel and stainless steels are used extensively in brackish and seawater membrane treatment facilities. Stainless steel corrodes when the wrong grade or type is placed in the wrong environment. Guidelines and specifications have been developed to create a uniform approach to selecting the proper stainless steel and standard specifications.
