In this paper, energy consumption optimization for Brackish Water RO (BWRO) systems in small, remote, rural communities is investigated. The key control factors for minimizing BWRO energy consumption include pressure, temperature, operating conditions, feed concentrations, and membrane type. The effect of each of these control factors on energy consumption is evaluated, and presented. Another objective of this research was to evaluate the effect of operating factors including salinity. So different levels of salt concentration were also considered.
