This presentation includes a case study of the South Island Public Service District desalination facility serving Hilton Head, SC. The facility was built to address salt water intrusion, allowing them to reduce withdrawals in the upper Floridan by utilizing the 2500 mg/L TDS Cretaceous aquifer. Water is 118 F with artesian pressure, drawing from 3,000 feet. 1.5 mgd plant built in 2001. Capacity increased to 3 mgd in 2004.
