This paper discuss’ why package MBR units are not just plug and play. There is a tremendous amount of interaction and involvement required by all parties – the Utility, the Engineer, and the Manufacturer – for the successful implementation of the prepackaged units. Some of the key issues brought up both during design, construction, and operations of the MBR facilities were coordination of equipment arrival during construction, coordination issues covering limits of responsibility during design and construction, mechanical issues such as valve types, RAS air release potential and skid layout recommendations.
