The paper presents suggestions for improving operations of MF/UF membrane-based treatment plants based on the author?s 35 years of experience with the goals of making the operator?s work life easier, lowering operating costs, and facilitating reliable plant performance with stable capacity. Suggestions include: periodic archiving of plant setpoint and performance ?snapshots? to assist locating problems during troubleshooting, methods of tracking cleaning successes and failures to improve effectiveness, methods for recording pinning repairs to aid warranty claims and finding hydraulic stress problems, and a proposed routine maintenance program to catch issues before they cause larger problems.
