This paper talks about lessons learned fom operation of the Ashkelon plant. The ?Pressure Center? design is suitable for large scale SWRO plants. For the next generation of SWRO plants, we are developing a list of ecologically friendly technologies: Multi frequency alarming system, for installation in intake structure to protect marine habitants. This system warns fish schools in the vicinity of intake grid by applying water pressure oscillation wave similar to theirs predators. Direct osmosis membrane cleaning method based on replacing harsh reagents by concentrated SWRO brine. Concentrated brine injected on?line in feed stream of RO membranes redirect process from RO to DO, provide osmotic shock to bacteria, lift and sweep fouling from membrane feed spacer.
