For existing facilities, sdding capacity for growth as well as improving treatment to meet stricter effluent limits is challenging. The Brush Creek WPCF, in Cranberry Township, PA, was faced with this challenge and in 2012 began the process of selecting treatment alternatives, developing a basis of design and preparing a design for and upgrade and expansion. Recognizing the space constrained footprint and need for future high level treatment capabilty, the MBR along with BNR process improvments were selected to meet thes goals. This presentation will discuss the innovative ways in which the MBR, effluent production system, biological process, and other upgrades were incorporated into the project, as well as the present status of construction and start up.
