The paper presents suggestions for improved design and operation of MF/UF treatment plants based on the author?s 35 years of experience. Suggestions include: 1. Derate Piloted Flux to yield more reliable capacity at affordable cost. 2. Reduce the number of terms. A translation table is presented comparing odd to preferred terms (based on AWWA?s MF/UF Standard B112). 3. Flow Calculation. Equations are presented including a simple predesign equation. 4. Fiber Breakage & Replacement Price Warranties are recommended. Plus: 5. ?Sticky? Pretreatment Chemicals. 6. New products, how to vet? 7. Non-membrane Engineering Aspects. 8. Help the Operators with operator training and tools during design and implementation.
