The paper presents the general functioning and efficiency of the backshock with Multibore?ultrafiltration membranes which allows operation at higher flux and recovery rates. In addition, data from a pilot unit operated on two different types of water examines the mechanical strength due to the backshock on the membranes. Efforts to optimize and define optimal backshock parameters as well as validation of the process are given.
