Low pressure RO membranes have been designed effectively to treat brackish water with low TDS (Below 2000 mg/L). As the salinity increases the salt passage increases in a non linear pattern because of the high salt concentration at the membrane surface. Because of this phenomena, it is important for low pressure ROP systems to be carefully designed for feed waters with a TDS concentration greater than 2000 mg/L.
