This paper presents the groundwater quality and the decision process that led to the treatment solution that was optimal for the client that deviated substantially from that listed in the request-for-proposals. The treatment process includes taking the groundwater directly to reverse osmosis (RO), lowering the pH before RO, adding antiscalant to attain 86% RO recovery, collecting the brine in an open tank, oxidizing the brine, removing the iron and manganese with pyrolusite, and sending the brine directly to injection. The paper also includes the results of the test injection well study, including the porosity of the soil in the area and the number and class of brine injection wells required for concentrate disposal.
