Quality of the steam cycle water requires special attention and chlorination/dechlorination phase is very important, especially for reclaimed water sources. Efficient control of residual chlorine allows for minimizing RO membranes maintenance and extending their life. Optimized dechlorination, permitted by accurate ultra-low range chlorine monitoring, resulted in over 30% reduction in sodium bisulfite usage and halved the frequency of clean-in-place cycles at a power utility. Such optimization is projected to reduce losses in power production, providing further cost savings.
