The focus of the presentation will be on the detailed evaluation of bench- , pilot- , and full-scale study results, the challenges of implementing and maintaining the required treatment levels for optimal performance of a new SWRO plant under varying seawater quality conditions. The results from this study will provide utilities with an in-depth understanding of the impacts of water quality, specifically inorganic (iron, phosphorous) and organic (TOC, DOC, cTEP) water quality parameters, on the various unit processes, e.g., DAF, UF and RO. Also, several considerations that need to be kept in mind while selecting a new intake location will be presented.
