Ceramic membranes combines with PAC can be an effective method at removing TOC; this reducing DBPs and controlling taste and odor issues. A pilot using a ceramic membrane included pretreatment with PAC and coagulant. The pretreatment resulted in a TOC removal of up to 80%.
