This paper describes a new method to control fouling of RO membranes that is based on injecting performic acid (PFA) directly into inlet of the membrane system during use. Test results in laboratory and small scale membrane pilots concluded that a dose of PFA helped control fouling and keep the surface of membrane clean from organics. The paper goes on to direct future efforts for this Test results in laboratory and small scale membrane pilots concluded that a dose of PFA helped control fouling and keep the surface of membrane clean from organics. The paper goes on to direct future efforts for this technology.
